Pet Vehicle Safety Harness

Care & Use Guide

Congratulations on the purchase of your new Solvit Products Pet Vehicle Safety Harness.  The safety harness comes in 4 adjustable sizes to accommodate most any breed, and they work in all vehicle front and rear seats.

INSTALLATION:    The Pet Vehicle Safety Harness consists of a padded safety vest with upper and lower adjustable straps and an adjustable, shock-absorbing, safety restraint.

Step one – install the safety restraint in the vehicle:  First, insert your vehicle’s seat belt into its buckle.  Next, unhook the safety restraint from the padded vest (if it is not already unhooked).  The quick link should have been shipped in the “open” position.  Slip the seat belt into the quick link and close the link by tightening the integrated nut.  The quick link can be fastened to the seat belt in the “shoulder” section or the “lap” section of the belt – the “shoulder” section allows more mobility for your dog; the “lap” section allows less mobility.  In the event of a sudden stop, the vehicle’s seat belt system will automatically lock, thus restricting your dog’s movement.  We recommend using the restraint at its shortest setting to better secure your dog in this case. 

For convenience and quick access, most consumers will leave the safety restraint installed in the vehicle.  For use in multiple vehicles, additional restraints are available by contacting Solvit customer service.

Step two – fit the safety vest to your dog:  Open the two plastic quick-release buckles on the lower set of straps and allow these straps to hang free.  (Do not disconnect the upper straps from the metal “D” rings.)  Slip the vest over your dog’s head and neck with the upper straps and “D” rings facing up.  The padded section should fit over the chest and between the front legs.   Re-connect the plastic quick-release buckles to the lower straps.  Carefully adjust all straps for a comfortable, but snug, fit.  The upper straps should align behind the neck and the lower straps over the back.  For safety, make sure the vest does not fit loosely. 

Step three – secure your dog to the safety restraint in the vehicle:   Load your dog into the vehicle (using a leash attached to the safety vest is an excellent way to do this).  Open the snap swivel on the restraint and attach to the metal “D” ring on the back of the vest.  If you are using a leash, it is best to attach the safety restraint to the vest before disconnecting the leash.

Cleaning: Promptly wipe up any foreign matter or liquid with a damp cloth or sponge.  The safety vest is machine washable in cold water.  Before washing, remove the “yoke” section (see above) by removing the upper straps from the metal “D” rings, and disconnecting the plastic quick-release buckles from the lower straps.  The “yoke” section should not go in the washing machine.

CAUTION: 

Warranty:  The Pet Vehicle Safety Harness is warranted to be free from defects in materials or workmanship for a period of one (1) year from date of purchase.  A copy of the original sales receipt is required for warranty issues.
